Ho-Ho-Kus is one of
the smallest and oldest communities in the area. It is also one of
our favorites.
Development in Ho-Ho-Kus began in the 1700's. While the community's colonial heritage is reflected in its architecture, you will discover a plethora of housing designs. Tudors, cottages, ranches, split levels, colonials, and luxurious mansions dot the landscape. There is a
elementary school in Ho-Ho-Kus for students through the eighth grade,
and high school students attend Northern Highlands, ranked #1 in the
county and #4 statewide by New Jersey Monthly magazine.
In the center of town, along Sheridan Avenue and Franklin Turnpike,
are a handful of brick and Tudor buildings occupied by convenience
stores, antique shops, bakeries, and other shops. With its covered
porch and upholstered reading chairs, the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library
feels more like a cozy den than a public building.
Ho-Ho-Kus is a
great commuter town. It has quick and convenient access to the NY
metro area. However, the prime location and the transportation
conveniences do not diminish or interfere with the serene atmosphere
evident throughout the town. |
